Greeting Card Project: Ribbon Banner

What you need

  • card stock - white - 8½" x 5½" folded in half to make a 4¼" x 5½" card blank
  • card stock - white - 4" x 5¼"
  • mulberry paper - purple - appr. 10" x 12"
  • decorative ribbon
  • craft knife
  • metal ruler
  • spray adhesive
  • glue
  • paper trimmer (optional)

How to do it

Step 1

Cut a window in the card front 3 1/4" x 4 1/2".

Step 2

Open the card flat, inside face-down. Use the spray adhesive to coat the card front and back.

Step 3

Apply the mulberry paper (appr. 10" x 7") to the adhesive and roll or press thoroughly.

Step 4

Turn the card inside-up. Cut an "X" through the window as shown in 4a.

Fold all four flaps over and crease as shown in 4b.

Step 5

Apply glue to the mulberry paper flaps very near (within 1/4" of) the window edge as shown in 5a.

Do this for all four flaps as shown in 5b.

Step 6

Trim the flaps as near the glued area as possible as shown in 6.

Step 7

Using a craft knife and metal ruler, carefully trim the mulberry paper around the edges of the card blank.

Step 8

Using the spray adhesive, apply a piece of mulberry paper appr. 5" x 7" to the 4" x 5 1/4" card. Using a craft knife and metal ruler, trim to fit the card.

Glue the ribbon to the card stock as shown in 8.

Step 9

Apply a very thin line of glue at the very edges of the piece you made in step 8. Center this piece on the back of the card front as shown in 9.
