Greeting Card Project: Festive Flower Pot

Greeting Card Designed by Ann Rismiller

What you need

  • card stock - fancy floral print on both sides, lighter on the inside so handwriting shows up better - 7" x 10" folded in half to make a 5" x 7" card blank
  • mulberry paper - copper - 3" x 3"
  • misc. patterened paper - about 12 scraps
  • green paper suitable for making leaves
  • glue
  • gel pens
  • scissors
  • decorative scissors
  • clay cutters, shaped paper punches, or die-cut machine for the flowers
  • tweezers
  • paper trimmer (optional)

How to do it

Step 1

Use the decorative scissors to trim 3/8" to 1/2" off the card front to reveal a portion of the inside of the card.

Step 2

Use the clay cutters, shaped paper punches, or die-cut machine for the flowers to make eight flowers from the patterened scraps. Arrange them on the card front as shown, then glue in place.

Step 3

Cut several more smaller flowers from the patterened scraps and place them on the larger flowers as shown and glue in place. Cut small round pieces for the flower centers and glue in place as shown.

Step 4

Cut a flower pot out of the copper mulberry paper and glue in place. Glue the leaves in place.

Step 5

Use appropriately colored gel pens to outline the pot and the flowers, draw stems, and draw lines down the center of the leaves as shown in the photo at the top of this page.
