How to do it

Step 1

Click here to go to the purse template. Print it and cut out both pieces with scissors.

Step 2

Using the glue stick, glue the two pieces of 6" x 8 1/2" paper together so that you end up with one 6" x 8 1/2" sheet with one side the solid color and the other side the pattern.

Step 3

Lay the purse template on the piece made in step 2, trace around it and cut our with scissors. Cut out the "U" shape inside the handle with a craft knife.

Step 4

Using the metal ruler and stylus, make a crease on the patterned side (this is the outside of the purse) connecting the notches as shown in the photo. Fold the piece away from the crease and use your fingernail or burnisher to set the crease.

Step 5a

Trace around the flap template onto the 2" x 6" piece of patterened paper and cut it out. Glue that piece overlaying the flap on the patterened side of the purse as shown in the photo. Notice that you'll have about 3/8" or so extending down the back side of the purse.

Step 5b

Using the metal ruler and stylus, make a crease on the patterned side of the flap as shown in the photo. Fold the piece away from the crease and use your fingernail or burnisher to set the crease.

Step 5c

Apply one part of the hook-and-loop (Velcro) dot fastener to the under side of the flap and the other part to the front of the purse as shown in the photo.

Step 6a

Using the 2" x 6" patterened paper, cut two 3/4" x 3 1/2" strips. Use the decorative scissors to cut along each long edge of each strip (four cuts).

Step 6b

Glue the two strips cut in step 6a to the front of the purse as shown in the photo. Notice they will be a little too long - use a craft knife to trim even with the bottom of the purse.

Step 6c

Glue the button to the flap as shown in the photo.

Step 7

Using the punch(es), punch 16 dots out of the small scrap of solid color paper and glue them on as shown in the photo. Finish off by using the glitter glue along the edges of the straps, handle, and flap and the center of the dots.
