Greeting Card Project: Snowflake Whimsey

What you need

  • card stock - dark blue metallic - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" folded to make a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card blank
  • light weight card stock or paper - white - 5 1/2" x 9 1/2"
  • snowflake punch
  • whimsical stamp of your choice (credit Rubbermoon)
  • embossing powder - white
  • heat gun
  • ribbon - white or silver
  • glue stick
  • paper trimmer (optional)

How to do it

Step 1

Use the snowflake punch on the card front four or five times.

Step 2

To make the liner - Fold the white paper or card 4 1/4" from one end. Place the liner inside the card so that the 4 1/4" end (from the fold) lays against the back of the card. The 5 1/4" end should extend beyond the front of the card by one inch. Lightly make a pencil mark where you want the deckled edge to be.

Use a paint brush to "paint" water where you want the tear. Give the water time to soak in, then carefully tear on that line. For a finer edge, hold a straight edge on the paper as a tearing guide. A hot iron can be used to dry and smooth the paper.

Step 3

Stamp and emboss your image onto the card front. If the heat warps the card, put the card under a weight a few hours or overnight.

Step 4

Glue the liner in place and tie on the ribbon.
