Greeting Card Project: 3D Leaves and Flowers
What you need
- card stock - light blue - 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" folded in half to make a 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" card blank
- card stock - blue-grey or dark blue - 1 3/4" x 5"
- card stock - light blue - 1 1/2" x 4 3/4"
- card stock - pink - 4" x 4"
- card stock - light green or sage - 4" x 4"
- card stock - brown - 2" x 1/8"
- embossing powder - green
- glue
- glue stick
- paper trimmer (optional)
How to do it
Step 1
Glue the light blue 1 1/2" x 4 3/4" card stock to the center of the blue-grey or dark blue 1 3/4" x 5" card stock.
Step 2
Glue the piece made in step 1 to a central-high position on the card blank.
Step 3
Glue the stem in place: Take the piece of brown card and twist 1/2" of one end 90°. Slightly curl the remainder and glue the 1/2" portion as shown in the photo at the top of this page.
Step 4
Click here to go to the flowers and leaves template and print it. Cut out leaf "A" and use the cut-out as a template to trace around on the light green or sage card three times. Cut the leaves out of the card, crease on the dashed line, and re-open.
Apply glue to the creases "spine" on the back of the leaves and place as shown in the photo at the top of this page. Try to position so that neither half of the leaf is flat against the card.
Step 5
Cut out flower template "A" and trace onto the pink card stock four times. Cut out the four flowers and crease where indicated with the dashed lines. Apply glue to the tab as shown in the step 5 photo
Fold the flower flat and weigh down until the glue is dry.
Step 6
Carefully fold the flower in the opposite direction so it has four equal sides as shown in the step 6 photo. Then flatten out the flower again somewhat. The four creases will ensure the flower has some depth to it while flattening it out again will make it more practical for fitting in an envelope.
Glue in place as shown in the photo at the top of this page.
