Greeting Card Project: French Door Fold Pumpkin

What you need

  • card stock - black - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" french-door folded to make a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card blank
  • card stock or construction paper - orange - 4" x 4"
  • card stock or construction paper - green - 1" x 1"
  • gel pen
  • glue
  • scissors
  • craft knife
  • paper trimmer (optional)

How to do it

Step 1 - Make the french-door fold

Lay the 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" black card stock on the table with the 8 1/2" side at the top. Make light pencil marks at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" from the left edge at both the top and bottom. Make a light pencil line connecting both 2 1/8" marks and both 6 3/8" marks. Use these lines to score with. See Basic Cutting and Folding.

When done, you should have your card folded as shown at right.

Step 2

Click here to go to the pumpkin template and print it. Choose whichever size pumpkin you would like on your greeting card and use the scissors and craft knife to cut it out. Don't forget the stem!

Step 3

Trace the pumpkin template cut-out on to the orange paper and use scissors and craft knife to cut it out. Do the same with the stem on the green paper.

Glue the pumpkin and stem on to the left-hand flap of the card blank. Decorate as you wish with a gel pen.
