Greeting Card Project: Button, Mesh, and Handmade Paper
What you need
- card stock - tan speckled - 7 1/2" x 11" folded in half to make a 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" card blank
- light card stock or paper - black - 7" x 12" folded in half to make a 5" x 7" piece (after tearing the edges)
- handmade paper - light-toned - appr. 4" x 6" - torn
- yarn and metallic thread
- plastic mesh - 3" x 4"
- interesting paper or fabric scrap (appr. 2 1/2" x 2 1/2")
- glue stick
- small paint brush
- button or coin
- paper trimmer (optional)
How to do it
Step 1
Using the glue stick, attach the plastic mesh to the handmade paper as shown.
Step 2
Using the glue stick, attach the interesting paper or fabric scrap to the plastic mesh as shown.
Step 3
Using the metallic thread, sew the button or coin in place as shown.
Step 4
As shown, lay a ruler or straight edge on the black paper and use it as a guide to tear the paper. You want the finished size of the paper to be 7" x 10".
Step 5
Using the glue stick, attach the black paper to the tan card as shown.
Step 6
Using the glue stick, attach the assembly from step 3 on to the black paper as shown in the photo at the top of the page.
Step 7
Take a length of about 20" - 22" of the raffia and yarn and tie them as shown in the photo at the top of the page. Using a square knot makes the ends lay flatter.
