  • light card stock or paper - black - 7" x 12" folded in half to make a 5" x 7" piece (after tearing the edges)
  • handmade paper - light-toned - appr. 4" x 6" - torn

  • interesting paper or fabric scrap (appr. 2 1/2" x 2 1/2")
  • glue stick
  • small paint brush
  • button or coin
  • paper trimmer (optional)

How to do it

Step 1

Using the glue stick, attach the plastic mesh to the handmade paper as shown.

Step 2

Using the glue stick, attach the interesting paper or fabric scrap to the plastic mesh as shown.

Step 3

Using the metallic thread, sew the button or coin in place as shown.

Step 4

As shown, lay a ruler or straight edge on the black paper and use it as a guide to tear the paper. You want the finished size of the paper to be 7" x 10".

Step 5

Using the glue stick, attach the black paper to the tan card as shown.

Step 6

Using the glue stick, attach the assembly from step 3 on to the black paper as shown in the photo at the top of the page.

Step 7

Take a length of about 20" - 22" of the raffia and yarn and tie them as shown in the photo at the top of the page. Using a square knot makes the ends lay flatter.
