Greeting Card Project: Ribbon Banner

What you need

  • card stock - buff or cream - 7" x 10" folded in half to make a 5" x 7" card blank
  • card stock - dark steel blue - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" folded in half to make a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece
  • light weight card stock - lavender - appr. 5" x 8"
  • dragonfly stamp
  • embossing ink - gold, cranberry
  • raffia and thin ribbon
  • glue stick
  • paper trimmer (optional)

How to do it

Step 1

As shown, hold a ruler or other straight edge down on the lavender paper with one hand while tearing with the other. Tear out a strip appr. 2" wide that tapers slightly. See the top photo.

Step 2

Using the glue stick, attach the torn lavender paper to the dark blue card stock as shown.

Step 3

Using the dragonfly stamp and the cranberry ink, stamp in the position shown. Clean the stamp. Next, use the gold ink and lay the image as close as possible on top of the cranberry image.

Step 4

Dab a small paint brush onto the gold ink pad and lightly dab onto the lavender paper in random streaks and blotches.

Step 5a

Open the dark blue card, inside face up. Using the glue stick, apply lines of glue on each side of and parallel to the fold of the dark blue card.

Step 5b

Attach dark blue card to the buff or cream card as shown.

Step 6

Take a length of about 20" - 22" of the raffia and narrow ribbon and tie them as shown. Using a square knot makes the ends lay flatter.
