Greeting Card Project: Festive Star

What you need

  • card stock - 8½" x 5½" folded in half to make a 4¼" x 5½" card blank - white
  • card stock - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" - black
  • gold metallic marker
  • craft knife
  • embossing ink pad, embossing powder in your choice of colors, heat gun
  • decorative scissors, ragged pattern
  • small stencil brush
  • glue or glue stick

How to do it

Step 1

With the gold metallic marker, make short hash marks all around the outer 1/2" of the white card blank.

Step 2

With the decorative scissors, trim about a 1/4" or so all around the edges of the black card stock. Glue it to the white card blank.

Step 3

Click here to go to the star template and print it. Choose whichever size star you would like on your greeting card and use the craft knife to cut it out.

Step 4

Tape the star template in place. Tape from the back of the greeting card so the front doesn't get damaged.

Step 5

Using the stencil brush, apply the embossing ink through the star cutout. If you are doing more than one color of powder, tap off the excess and heat each time. The heating may warp the card stock - if this happens, leave the card under a heavy book overnight.
