It was November, 1989 and my assignment for editorial photography class was to create a picture story involving people. I was not looking forward to this because I am an introvert and when taking pictures, I am as far away from people as possible.

I spent a weekend in the small town of Peebles, Ohio, talking with and photographing many people. I wouldn't have traded the experience for anything. It helped bring my out of my shell a little and taught me that it's much easier to make an interesting photo when people are part of the picture.

The subject of this photo is a very nice man by the name of Kenneth Ursiny, the police chief for a short time. The last time I spoke with him he was in chiropractor school.

On the front is a quote by the artist: "I'm not opposed to change; I just can't deal with it myself."
