In November, 1989, I spent a weekend in Peebles, Ohio, photographing people for a school assignment. As an introvert, I was aprehensive about approaching live humans with the intent of invading their space with my cameras.
It turned out to be a very valuable and fruitful experience. I met this man, Mr. Holly, at a group home. I sat on the steps in front of him a listened to his stories.
I took several pictures of him and every time Mr. Holly heard the shutter click, he would stop speaking. I felt it was my obligation to get this man talking again, so I had to verbally prompt him with the last words he spoke.
On the front is a quote by Abraham Lincoln: "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
